"Avi" is short for the term "Avatar". According that impeccable resource, the Wikipedia, an avatar refers to "the incarnation (bodily manifestation) of a divine being". While this term accurately describes all TeamSpankers and of course our Leader, Katee Sackhoff, in the context of this section of TeamSpank HQ, an "avi" or "avatar" actually refers to "a computer user's representation of himself or herself (via) a two-dimensional icon (picture) used on Internet forums and other communities".

In pleb-speak, an avi is just a little pic that you stick with your username on a forum. Avi's are strange, strange beasts as you tend to associate a user's avi with them and even come to believe that's how they look, as you have no reference to how they look in real life. So you'll be scrolling away and all of a sudden it will hit you...
